What the boy wants to do, of course, is bladesmithing, but he will have to start by learning to hammer out shelf brackets and cupboard hardware because the nearest sword-making school is on the mainland.

It turns out the crumbling fish pond/eyesore in the back yard is basically a big fire-proof workshop -who's a neglectful homeowner now? Not me, the person with a 1,100 degree fire in the back yard.

In which I finally learn to upload videos
Our library student helper is leaving us for boot camp/college, so I made her pose for a painting.

I used oil paper taped to a piece of MDF. Here I am trying to peel the tape off the edges with one hand. This is the best part of the painting process, if done right. This one is not done right, but it was satisfying anyway.
