Little figure studies

My month as solo adult is coming to a close. I'm cramming all the painting time I can into the nights my mother takes the kids for sleepovers. It's been really great being the designated parent during the school week and spending long rainy summer nights alone in the painting studio on weekends. Except for having to do the dishes. I hate you, dishes.

I've been putting off glazing the self portrait I'm working on, so I took a break and practiced mixing skin tones. I think I'm about ready to ruin the big painting now.

She's holding a knitting needle here, not stabbing herself with a pencil.
