My mother and I went to see The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I liked it a lot. I must re-read the books. Zaphod Beeblebrox is a living caricature of my father. Right down to the two heads. The books are such a familiar part of my family history, it was just like going home for 2 hours.
I bought Gavin a pack of "water soluble" markers, and our walls, staircase, cupboards, and sinks are now indelibly decorated with scribbles, all in the time it took me to look up and say, "Mike, where did Gavin go?" Yay for Clorox in a spray bottle. This was all a plot to make me clean up, I know it!
Mike insists that he no longer has a crush on Hot Redhead, and that he would like to take her to a bar some time. Hmm. I'm so convinced. I'll ask him to take along other friends if he's going anywhere with her, but I trust him not to do anything. That won't stop me from teasing him, though.
WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVIENCE.

Remarkably heavy overlap in our personal tastes, eh snootch? I've never asked if you enjoy Monty Python, too.
ReplyDeleteNow let me get this straight. You have "rules" of dating other people within your marriage??? Whose idea was this? Can I guess? This sounds like a man's heaven, my dear. And no, he will never get women out of his system with rules such as these. You should be his object of affection, not ANY other woman.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how such a strong woman could be played like this? How she could allow herself to be manipulated? Why aren't women empowered any better than this in our postmodern age?
My heart goes out to you.
Oh, sheesh, spare me. No, it was my idea, because I'm the one who's rotten about smooching other people. Mike thinks it's a stupid rule, and it doesn't matter, because neither of us apply it anyway.
ReplyDeleteMan, anyone who thinks I get "played" by things like this obviously doesn't know me very well.
Never fear, Mike and I are solid, despite all the teasing and trash talking. He's my mate, I'm his, and that's all there is to it in the end.
I hope so...but then you are wiping up your darling son's bottom while he's out with Hot Redhead. Sorry I interjected fear. The scenario screamed at me for some idiotic reason.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're all good! :-)
Yes, we're fine. Relationships are not all the same, individual couples have different comfort levels and varying amounts of wiggle room. After 8 years, we've pretty much established what we're ok with.
ReplyDelete:) But thanks for the concern. If the guy were anyone but Mike, I could see it being an iffy thing. He's all but wrapped around my leg for security.
